About Alimentatie Inzicht

Alimentatie Inzicht is a platform by Kompas Legal & Finance. It combines experience in software development with knowledge of Dutch family law and the Dutch Trema guidelines (Rapport Alimentatienormen).

Who we are

Alimentatie Inzicht is an independent platform under Kompas Legal & Finance, designed to give private individuals, mediators and lawyers quick, reliable and indicative figures for child and spousal maintenance — without unnecessary hurdles and without asking for your BSN (Dutch citizen service number).

The calculator was built by an experienced software developer, combined with knowledge of Dutch family law. Every calculation is based on the official Dutch Trema guidelines, the Hofnorm (the Dutch courts' rule of thumb for a former spouse's needs: 60 % of net family income minus the costs of the children) for spousal maintenance, and the current tax and benefit system.

Our principles

  • Transparency — the calculation logic is documented on our methodology page. The PDF report shows how every figure is derived.
  • Up to date — the Trema guidelines, needs tables and tax rates in the calculation engine are updated annually. The 2026 indexation (4.6 %) has been applied.
  • Independence — Alimentatie Inzicht is independent of law firms and mediation practices. You get an objective starting point for your conversation.
  • Privacy — no BSN (citizen service number) required. Your data travels over HTTPS and is stored on servers in the EU (Ireland); passwords are stored hashed.

Our experience

The platform is based on practical experience with maintenance calculations. The methodology follows the Rapport Alimentatienormen of the Dutch Expert Group and is checked with control calculations; the methodology page shows step by step how we calculate. Alimentatie Inzicht is intended for individuals as well as for mediators and lawyers looking for a quick indicative substantiation.

Editorial team and corrections

The texts, tables and worked examples on this site are written and checked by the editorial team of Kompas Legal & Finance. We work from primary sources: the Rapport alimentatienormen, January 2026 version by the Expertgroep Alimentatienormen, the statutory text on wetten.overheid.nl, the Dutch Tax Administration and the LBIO. The worked examples are calculated with the same calculation core as the calculator, not typed over.

Based on the Trema guidelines

The Trema guidelines (Rapport Alimentatienormen) are the nationally applied guidelines for maintenance calculations in the Netherlands. They are drawn up by the Expert Group on Maintenance Guidelines of the Dutch judiciary and published as the Rapport Alimentatienormen. Alimentatie Inzicht implements:

  • Needs tables for child maintenance (annually indexed)
  • Capacity calculation, including net disposable income (NBI), housing costs and the care discount
  • Child-related budget and single-parent supplement
  • The Hofnorm (Dutch rule of thumb) for spousal maintenance
  • Indexation under Article 1:402a of the Dutch Civil Code
